Breaking! Stray Bullet Kills Young Girl in Kumba

A young girl whose name was gotten as Ajeck Hilda died this morning after she was supposedly hit by a stray bullet at Mile 1 Kumba, in the South West Region of Cameroon.

The girl, said to have been a form 3 student of Government High School (GHS) Kake, died in the house. The bullet is said to have pierced through the plank structure where she lived and hit her..

“If they had told her this would be her last day on earth, she wouldn’t have agreed. This life isn’t balanced. Farewell my dear,” lamented a relative.

Reports say heavy gunfire engulfed Mile 1 Kumba this morning and it is believed to have stemmed from a clash between separatist fighters and the military.

Parts of the city have witnessed turbulence in the last few days and this is the third killing MMI is reporting in Kumba within one week.

Like the rest of the English-speaking Regions, Kumba is speculating an effective resumption of classes tomorrow for the 2023/2024 school year amid rumours of a lockdown said to have been imposed by separatists.

Although schools kicked off in eight Regions in Cameroon today, many parts of the Anglophone Regions only hope to resume tomorrow, as they observe a traditional Monday lockdown long imposed by Ambazonia separatists.
