On Friday, August 11th, 2023, a young Benakuma resident slid into our DM with a distress message.
He was in touch with our People’s Voice (PV) team to complain about the bad state of a bridge in Menchum Valley, in the North-West Region of Cameroon.
Five days after we put up the post, the bridge was repaired.
Before
According to him, the bridge linking Menchum Valley in Benakuma was broken. In his own words, he said: “This is the main bridge linking the sub-divisional headquarters of Menchum Valley and Benakuma. The government has been deaf to the cries of the Benakuma people. Please publish it so that the world will know what the people of Esimbi are going through. It is terrible,” Julius said.

Our Source added that: “The road connecting Befang and Benakuma is in disrepair. A good samaritan has chosen to assist by throwing gravel from Befang to Banakuma. The good Samaritan simply requested 300,000 francs to fuel his machines, which will deliver the gravel to fill in the holes. However, the administration of the Benakuma Council stated that they do not have any funds. However, the council is renting offices in Bamenda, which cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. I am pleading with the powers that be to request that all councils working in the regional headquarters return to their own councils. More than 75% of the councils that worked at the regional headquarters have returned to their respective council offices. What is the Benakuma council doing in Bamenda?”
After
Julius says locals and users of the road have reacted happily. “Thanks so much to the MMI Team; the bridge you published on your page some days ago has been arranged. Thanks once more for being the people’s voice,” Julius wrote to our news team.

People and vehicles can now move unperturbed, said Julius.
He added, Many thanks for the publication. Maintain the excellent job you do because Heaven will raise you much more. Ignore all the negative comments people make, we can’t thank you enough for all you do.
