Buea-based Craftsman and Carpenter trains IDP kids, sponsors others

Gifted Philanthropist craftsman and Carpenter, Festus, popularly known as Maboog pleads for assistance as he takes a host of Internally Displaced young persons to teach them his handwork.

Maboog says it is his own way of contributing to healing the wounds of the nation. Talking about one of his trainees, Nzakwa Frankline Efia, Maboog says he is particularly well pleased with his progress and is ready to go miles to help him complete his training.

Nzakwa Frankline, 16, who hails from Nkambe in the Northwest Region has been with the craftsman for close to six months learning how to be a gifted craftsman and Carpenter like his teacher.

Maboog has expressed his delight working with Franklin as he notes that “…he understands perfectly the finishing touches and I think that three years from now he will be a great craftsman like me. I am happy he loves the trade and his family too is very happy with his progress.”

Maboog says the desire Franklin has shown to learn the trade has given him more encouragement to take in more recruits.

“I have opted to take in more young people to train. There are many of them who have expressed their desire to join me so that I train them, but have complained of the lack of transport to Buea,” he asserted.

He also complained that Franklin will have to complete his training but at the moment does not have enough tools to enable him go through his training.

“There are many other children that I am helping. One of them who was equally working with me, I decided to send him back to school in Loum. Fortunately there’s an accommodation for him there but I take care of his feeding and fees… that one has no problem. But as for Franklin he is the person that needs support. He needs tools and other materials to help him go through his training”.
