Antoinette Kongso, a lady arrested and tortured in Buea while pregnant has put to birth safely. She was arrested weeks ago by Chief Moja Moja and was being detained by security forces.
Accused of having links with separatist fighter, ‘General’ No Pity, her lawyers insist the only links they have, is the son they bote prior to the armed conflict.
All legal pleas for her release or at least adequate legal processing yielded no fruits and she remains behind bars.
Lawyers defending the lady had noted that the basis of her arrest and detention was illegal.
They also cited her health condition including a pregnancy that was eight months old at the time of arrest, but the authorities turned a blind eye to their calls.
Despite the circumstances, the native of Nseh village in Bui Division, North West Region gave birth to a baby at about 11PM last night at the Buea regional hospital.
The nursing mother and her baby, MMI gathered, remain under custody.
