Uneasy calm now reigns at the Buea Mile 17 motor park.
Reports say, long hours of gun battle between pro-indepencence fighters and Cameroon military, perturbed activities in the park and surrounding neighbourhoods.
According to a source who was trapped in the gun exchange, the military besieged the mile 17 motor park around 10am, following a tip off of an imminent activity of the fighters.
“Around 10pm or so, the whole park was filled with the military. They went around searching and ransacking any suspecting material. We were told that Amba fighters have infiltrated the population. Everyone present in the park at that time, was asked to lie down. It was not before long before we began hearing shooting between the Amba boys and the military,” our source who died for anonymity, said.
The fighting that lasted for close to an hour, coated the lives of two unknown young men. Reports say, two unidentified corpses were discovered at the park this morning of Wednesday, December 5, 2018.
Drivers Pay the Price!
It should be noted that, the hangover of last night’s gun battle, were felt this morning at the park.
Reports say, the military descended on Miles 17, at around 6am, flogging anybody they found. According to sources, most of the victims were bus, and taxis drivers, who were combing for passengers to ferry out of Buea.
Our sources say many drivers sustained various degree of injuries. Others ran for their lives in the bushes, while the military took control.
At press time, places are calm at the park, as the population continue to observe the hygiene and sanitation keep Buea clean campaign.
