Buea: Suspected Amba Fighters Set Classroom At GPS Molyko Ablaze

Suspected Amba fighters have set ablaze a classroom at Government Practicing School, GPS Molyko Group II -Buea, Fako division of the South West region.

The school is said to have been attacked in the night of Monday breaking Tuesday April 6.

According to sources familiar with the incident, the school was attacked by individuals believed to be Separatists fighters.

The school officials are said to have campus this morning to behold the razed classroom.

Chairs, benches and other classroom materials were reportedly all lost in the inferno attack. This attack on GPS group II comes after a recent attack on GPS Molyko Group I that saw one of it’s classrooms razed to ashes and charms placed in the premises.

It is also reported that the attacks were intended to disrupt the school activities to reinforce a separatist school boycott campaign.

“…the attackers’ intention is to disrupt school activities and specifically stop the Class 6 pupils of the two schools from attending classes”, a source told Mimi Mefo Info.

It should be recalled that similar attacks on educational structures in the conflict-stricken North West and South West regions have been recurrent since 2017 when the Anglophone crisis morphed into an armed conflict.
