Traders at the new Great Soppo Market situated opposite the OIC School in Buea, South West Region of Cameroon have blamed Mayor Mafani David Namange for their poor sales.
“The few of us selling our goods here in the market don’t have customers despite the fact that market officers of the council pass around every day and we pay taxes. We don’t have customers because the council has allowed some people to be selling on the streets after destroying our stands there,” an irate trader has stated.
The traders say this is an injustice and smacks of incompetence on the part of the Buea Council administration.
“The council has instilled disorder in the business. Those of us respecting his decision to do business in the new market are instead suffering while those selling along the road are making huge profits,” a trader said.
To the traders, Barrister David Mafani Namange, Mayor of the Council has not taken the responsibility to address the situation.
