Buea’s jubilant crowd turns out to receive Tara, CHAN 2021 official mascot


The CHAN 2021 official mascot, Tara, is currently touring the Southwest cities of Buea and Limbe in view of January’s football jamboree, CHAN.
The mascot Tara was received this morning at Southwest governor’s office where Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai opened the tour that will stretch to Limbe.


The Buea population at the Clerk’s Quarter neighborhood turned out jubilantly to shake hands andllg take selfies with the CHAN mascot.

The CHAN 2021 will kick off on January 16 with Cameroon facing Zimbabwe in the opening game and will run till February 17.
The mascot mobilises support for the continental tournament which Cameroon will be hosting for the first time.


The tournament was postponed from holding this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic but all seem set and done for the event to kick off.


The Limbe Omnisport Stadium in the Southwest region will be hosting some of the matches with Buea providing training fields for players.
16 countries will be competing for the trophy with host country Cameroon perching in group ‘A’ alongside Zimbabwe, Mali and Burkina Faso.
