Inhabitants of Nseh village in Nkum, a subdivision in Bui division of the North West have expressed anger after their Fon’s car was seized by separatist fighters.
Their traditional ruler was stopped by the fighters in the neighboring village of Takijah on June 25, 2022.
“His Royal Highness the Fon of Nseh went to Kumbo with his vehicle and on his way back , it was seized by amba boys at Takijah. He trekked to the palace,” revealed a native.
The incident has since raised tension.
Our source narrated that”… we believe that if the fon is hurt everyone feels the pains…. If the vehicle is not given back to the palace it result to war between people of Nseh and amba boys…”
Search for Fon’s car
Nseh villager have refused to give up. They have vowed to brave all the security, to ensure their Fon’s car is retrieved.
“A delegation of ten civilians went there this morning to see if the Fon’s vehicle could be taken and the boys in question say the vehicle had been taken to Gwarkang and given to their commander in Gwarkang (Carpo). The driver and one of the palace notables palace was taken alongside with the car. The delegation is yet to return,” said a Nseh resident.
The incident comes shortly after the road from Kumbo to Nseh was cleared, following the death of a dreaded separatist leader.
No peace in Nseh
Nseh has largely remained a peaceful village as compared to others in the Bui division, despite the marked rise in violence due to the Anglophone armed struggle.
The traditional ruler of the village remains one of the few, resident in his village and palace. He has also maintained a low profile and avoided dabbling into politics.
Yet, this has not kept him from running into disagreements with separatist fighters, believed to be enraged by his lack of support for them.
