Bui Division:
Separatist faction challenges CPDM MP’s unity call, promises hell for soldiers

Days back, Hon Ngah Estella, the Member of Parliament for Mbiame, Bui, a division in one of Cameroon’s conflict hit regions showed up in her constituency.

The MP who like many other politicians is living out of the Conflict-hit Anglophone regions told locals she was back to re-build her community, and even separatist fighters would not disrupt her agenda.

“I am here on mission from government. We don’t have any terrorists in the Cameroon. Cameroon is one and indivisible, we can never separate this country” she told locals, promising to carry our developmental projects including the construction of roads.

Heavily guarded and wearing a bulletproof vest, Hon Ngah Estella told locals those still fighting the government of Cameroon for a breakaway state were no longer terrorists, but just mere rogues using the situation to make money.
“No terrorist will be in Mbiame because that is the decision of the government. There are thieves in the bushes not amba” she noted.

Hon Ngah Estella further urged the population to lynch anyone suspected to be a separatist fighter.
She told them: “If any amba says anything or tried to disturb you people, come out as the population and finish with them like others are doing. If you all apprehend one amba and have him killed, no other would pass here”.

The politician went on to praise what she said had been the hard work of the military in combatting the separatists.

“I’m not afraid of any amba. If any wants to know me, he or she would know me. I am a woman but I am not a woman” she said.

Many were yet to digest the MP’s utterances when the said separatists responded, instilling more terror in the land.

The Ambazonia Defence Force, ADF, one of several separatist factions fighting the Cameroonian government in a release hours ago said they had reacted to the MP’s words by abducting some members of the armed forces and would not stop till government soldiers are pulled out from the concerned regions.

In a video making rounds on social media, unidentified men are seen displaying military attire, and gun and ammunition they claim to have seized after abducting a soldier.

“The money he was collecting from all of our civilians here in Bui, we collected all the money under the auspices of the Ambazonian Defence Force” said an unidentified individual in the video.

He further sent a warning to all civilians in Bui Division, promising to spare no one cooperating with government forces.

“We are sending this message clear to those who are still in support of the military that why is being done to the military today, you will also carry the cross” he warned, adding that “if somebody could be killed carrying this sophisticated weapon, think of you when you carry nothing?”

The current situation has left locals more confused and scared, given the already deplorable situation they live.
Bui where Mbiame is located remains one of the divisions in the Anglophone regions where fighting is heaviest and most deadly. Over the last months, several attacks, kidnappings and gun battles have been recorded in the division, leaving many dead, others maimed and more displaced.

With the exchange between government forces and separatist seemingly far from over in Bui and other parts of the North West and South West regions, the fate of many in the land still hangs in the balance.
