A building under construction has crumbled in Dakar Douala located in the Littoral Region of Cameroon.
Neighbours say they were awoken from sleep by the noise of the collapse of the building.
“At 5 am, I heard a loud noise, so I woke up to find out what was wrong and I saw bricks all over the place.” a neighbor disclosed.
They further revealed that the building in question already posed a threat which made them live in fear that it may collapse.
“since the day we noticed that the building can collapse, we have not slept in our rooms, we sleep in the parlor,” the neighbour added.
However, it is reported that the owner of the building was earlier on alerted on the situation but he hesitated to take any action.
“It’s been over two weeks now since we alerted him. He rather told us that he has plans to demolished the walls by Sunday ignoring the danger in which he was putting his neighbours.” another neighbour indicated.
No live was lost. However, huge material losses were incurred, especially by those in the neighbourhood.
