Owners of businesses in the crisis stricken town of Kumba, in the South West Region have made their voices heard as the taxation has suddenly gone on a rampage by sealing shops in the town.
The reason for the shops’ closure are due to the fact that the these business have not paid taxes to the council.
The owners of these businesses, however, say they have strong backing as they were exempted from paying taxes by the Prime Minister, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute.
The tax exemption according to these business owners was supposed to last for a period of 2 years. However, barely one year into the exemption, shops have already been sealed.
The taxation office, meanwhile, has not yet reacted towards the grudges being made by these business owners.
