The Executive Director of Cameroon Indigenous Women Forum, CAIWOF, Ms. Bouba Aeisatu has been selected as one of the 2021 “Changemakers” in the world.

Ms. Bouba Aeisatu was honored by The Thomson Reuters Foundation. She was chosen by a crack team international jury that scrutinized over 3,000 applicants from the seven continents of the world.

CAIWOF Executive Director and 23 other change-makers were officially announced during the annual Trust Conference on November 17 and 18, 2021.
The Thomson Reuters Foundation’s Changemaker’s program brings together some of the most inspiring pioneers and innovators from across the globe, committed to developing concrete solutions to pressing human rights issues.

“After succeeding in my education I decided to go back to my community to challenge harmful cultural practices and rescue young girls from child marriage,” Ms. Bouba pledged in her words in a panel she participated in during the conference.

This is her second international recognition within three months, for her strive in empowering women and girls especially the indigenous ones who are sometimes marginalized at the different levels in the society.

During the Commemoration of the 2021 edition of the International ID-Day, last September 16, she was recognized amongst the Identity-For-All in Africa, ID4Africa 2021 Champions, for her enormous efforts in highlighting the contribution of indigenous people.
