Camair-Co Safely Lands Plane After Mid-Air Incident

The Cameroon airlines company, Camair-Co has announced the safe landing of flight QC222, en route to Garoua, following a cabin depressurization incident during its approach to the Garoua International Airport.

In a press release, the airline’s management said the incident caused the crew to deploy oxygen masks for passengers as per standard safety protocols.

The crew executed a controlled descent, ensuring a smooth and safe landing.

Passengers and crew disembarked without incident, and the aircraft was sent for technical inspection to guarantee future operational safety.

Addressing Camair-Co Service Quality

While the airline apologized for the inconvenience caused, the announcement comes against a backdrop of longstanding customer grievances about Camair-Co’s services.

In 2022, Camair-Co faced public outcry over high flight costs coupled with poor services.

Mariam Haman Adama, a passenger traveling from Maroua to Yaounde, took to social media to express her frustration over paying FCFA 217,040 for a one-hour flight.

The company reportedly offered her limited baggage allowance and substandard onboard refreshments.

Her criticism, which gained widespread attention, prompted the airline to announce price reductions on October 15, 2022.

The same year, Twitter user, Léonard Aboussa, shared an image of his swollen feet after he endured a three-day road journey due to Camair-Co’s delays.

“All because of Camair-Co. When will the air transport sector be liberalized?” he lamented.

In January 2024, passengers accused Camair-Co of abandoning them after a flight billed for Libreville at 10 a.m. took off at 8 a.m.

It left behind those who had to board at 8:30 a.m.

Later that year, Member of Parliament, Hon. Cabral Libii, criticized the airline for its persistent delays and poor service delivery.

Camair-Co’s recent incident is a test of the airline’s commitment to rebuilding public trust.

While the airline effected safety protocols during the QC222 incident, its broader challenge remains improving service reliability.

For now, airline has assured its passengers that its operational schedule remains unaffected.

However, whether this assurance will resonate with its already disenchanted customer base remains to be seen.
