Cameroon: 10 Monkey Pox cases confirmed in the South West Region

At least 10 cases of Monkey Pox virus have been detected in the health districts of Kumba and Fue Bakundu in Meme Division, South-west Region of Cameroon.

The South-west Regional Delegation of Public Health, Dr. Filbert Eko Eko, has said the two health districts have been placed on emergency health alerts.

“This is the second strain of the disease in the same health districts and measures have been put in place to contain the outbreak,” he told Express FM.

Dr. Filbert Eko Eko added that the health delegation is going to do thorough investigations to know how the strain originated in the region.

He called on inhabitants of Meme to report suspected cases to the nearest health facility.

“We need to see that any person who is suspected should seriously be taken into high consideration so that the spread does not continue,” the Regional Delegate told CRTV Buea.

This is the second Monkey Pox outbreak in the Meme Division since October last year.
