Three non-governmental organizations have equipped atleast 200 youths in Kousseri, Capital of Logone and Chari division, Far North region of Cameroon with practical knowledge on manufacturing ecological paving stones.

The joint effort of Jeunesse Sans Frontier, Take Care and 4-AHPD is aimed at “combating unemployment in the area.”

Selected participants, MMI gathered can now “transform plastic waste into ecological paving stones.”

Given that Kousseri is a border town with the Republic of Chad, the products are expected to be sold not only in Camerooon but across the border.

Initiators of the project are envisaging an exchange between Cameroonian and Chadian youths on the training in the nearest future with the hope of addressing youth unemployment in both countries.

To ensure sustainability, fifty pioneers have been selected and new production units will be created, throughout the Logone and Chari division

It will as well serve as an awareness campaign in the fight against dumping of garbage in the town of Kousseri.

The project is financed by the Lake Chad Recovery and Development Project (PROLAC-Cameroon) with the technical support of the Ministry of Environment, Nature Protection and Sustainable Development.
