The Cameroon amputee football team is set to face off against their counterparts from Ghana for the All Africa Paralympic Games.
Ghana will host the Africa Paralympic Games in 2023.
They expect the match to take place on September 3, 2022, in Ghana.
But the Cameroonian amputee players have complained that the government has abandoned them with no training or preparations for the game, with less than a week remaining until D-day.
The government promised to take care of them, but they say they have not received any form or sign of assistance up to now.
“As I write to you now, we have 4 days left to travel to Ghana for the all-African Para Games. We will play the opening match against the host Ghana on September 3rd, 2023, but we have not started training or preparing yet because we were relying solely on the government officials as they promised us,” said Ndifor Joel, Secretary General and player of Cameroon Amputee Football, to MMI.
The sports minister has not shown any interest in them since making a promise to offer them assistance.
“We have been going to the Ministry of Sport with no avail,” Joel added.
If they don’t do anything, their chances of travelling to Ghana for the match will be slim.
