Following the school massacre in Kumba over the weekend, some Cameroon artists have established a group aimed at taking action at their level to press for the Anglophone Crisis to be resolved.
Fronted by the likes of Maahlox, Dynastie Le Tigre and Krotal, they named the peace initiative Mouvement des Artistes Camerounais pour la Paix au NOSO, MAC.
The group which is apolitical, they explain,
“… invites all artists from the ten regions of the country concerned about peace and national unity to join this noble cause.”
With the sole aim of pushing for a solution to the four year long war that has left thousands dead, room for participation is open to all.
“… Any artist or group of artists wishing to join the movement is asked to join through the Facebook group that has been created for this purpose.
Group link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/390984751946016 ” a release to that effect reads.
The move by artists comes after the artists made several calls online with the trending hashtag, #EndAnglophoneCrisis.
Since the school shooting in Kumba, several other youths have also engaged in other initiatives in the quest for peace. Another, the Anglophone Youth Conference in the build is gaining support on Facebook, as organisers say it is their own day of taking their future into their hands.
