Cameroon-based Chadian student plans own kidnap, demands huge ransom from family

A Chadian, studying at the University of Dschang has fabricated a fake kidnap scene and demanded the sum of 5 million from his family for his “release.”

It is reported that the act was carried out after several unsuccessful attempts by the young man to get enough financial support from his family, based in N’Djamena, Chad.

Knowing that the announcement of his kidnap will unfailingly provoke desolation and push his family to react, the young man alongside his Cameroonian friends decided to stage a fake kidnap scene.

They reportedly bound his feet, tied his mouth, and took images with threatening messages which would later be sent to the family.

“It’s time to prove you love your child! We know the outside is tough, just send 5 million!” they said in the message.

Gripped by fear, the family decided to alert the security forces in Dschang rather than negotiate with the presumed kidnappers.

Investigations by the forces of law and order thereby led to the apprehension of the young man and his two accomplices who were later taken to the Dschang Brigade, where they have been put behind bars.
