Cameroon Customs Seize 25,000 Hunting Cartridges in Garoua-Boulaï

Cameroon customs officials have seized 25,000 hunting cartridges and 24 packages of lead pellets at Yokosiré checkpoint in Garoua-Boulaï, in the East Region.

The ammunition was reportedly concealed in a vehicle and hidden among military-style clothing during a routine road inspection by the Mobile Customs Brigade.

The cartridges were packed in 25 parcels, while the additional lead pellets were also seized.

The vehicle and the suspected contraband have been sealed and placed in customs custody.

The vehicle owner was arrested and handed over to the military security unit at the Garoua-Boulaï border post as investigations continue.

Authorities say the ongoing investigation will seek to establish the source of the ammunition and determine whether others were involved in the suspected trafficking network.
