On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, a formal event at Hotel Mizao in Maroua officially presented the participating teams for the 21st edition of the Cameroon International Cycling Tour, located in the Far North Region of Cameroon.
The presentation marked a key milestone ahead of the official race kickoff, scheduled for Wednesday morning at the city’s ceremonial square.
Government and Local Authorities Present
The event was attended by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, alongside the Governor of the Far North Region, municipal leaders, traditional authorities, and representatives of the Cameroon Cycling Federation.
In his remarks, the Minister further expressed appreciation for Maroua’s commitment to hosting the event. He emphasised the city’s cultural richness and diversity as a reflection of Cameroon’s unity.
“The diversity of its socio-cultural components is a major asset, not only for the image of Cameroon but also for national cohesion and unity,” the Minister stated.
International Participation and Public Reception
Teams from across Africa, Europe, and other regions received strong public support during the ceremony. They paraded before the audience, welcomed with enthusiastic applause.
The public presentation served both as an official introduction of the athletes and a symbolic gesture of international cooperation through sport.
Beyond Sport: A Platform for Tourism and Unity
Meanwhile, the Cameroon International Cycling Tour has grown beyond a competitive sporting event to become a platform promoting tourism, local culture, and international exchange.
Organisers reiterated the importance of the race in fostering connections between communities and nations.
“The Cameroon Cycling Tour aims to be more than a competition—it is a means of bringing people together and promoting local tourism,” organisers noted.
Maroua Prepared for Launch
All logistical and ceremonial preparations appeared to be in place in Maroua for the official race start. The launch marks not only the beginning of the 2025 edition but also a celebration of unity in diversity through sport.
