Cameroon’s Ambassador to France André Magnus Ekoumou has paid homage to the victims of the Olembe Stadium stampede and the deaths recorded in the fire incident at the LIVS Night Club in Bastos Yaoundé.
A moment of solemnity was observed by the entire personnel of Cameroon’s Embassy in Paris yesterday January 25, 2022.
A wreath was also laid by Cameroon’s Ambassador in memory of the victims of both incidents which occurred recently in Cameroon’s political capital, Yaoundé.
Figures from both incidents, according to Government sources, cumulate to at least 24 deaths.
The incident at the LIVS Night Club occurred early Sunday morning. The club is believed to have been set ablaze following a gas leakage.
Multiple sources claimed that 30 deaths were recorded at the time, but official Government sources revealed the toll to be 16 deaths, and over 30 others injured.
A day later at the Olembe Stadium, a stampede caused by an overwhelming crowd of fans seeking access into the stadium for Cameroon vs Comoros game caused the deaths of at least 8 people and more injured.
