Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute has chaired a ceremony to destroy weapons seized from separatist fighters in the Anglophone regions.
The ceremony ended moments ago in the South West region capital of Buea.
The symbolic destruction of illicit arms in the country was carried out as part of activities to mark the Africa Amnesty Month.
The torching of the arms comes amidst continuous fighting between government forces and separatist fighters seeking a breakaway state called Ambazonia.
Despite the symbolic burning of arms, however, government is yet to come to a compromise or negotiate a ceasefire with separatists whose leaders have been handed heavy jail terms and fines in the capital, Yaoundé.
