Cameroon: Footballer dies in accident as team returns from a club game

It was a black Wednesday for the Ngoulebouk Football Club which lost one of its players in a fatal road accident.

The accident occurred after their vehicle was involved in a ghastly road accident on the Obala – Monatele stretch, Centre region.

The players according to sources were returning from Obala where they had played a match for the ongoing Cameroon Cup tournament.

As they headed towards Monatele, their bus was involved in fatal road accident that left at least one player dead on the spot.

In a viral video, his colleagues could be seen lamenting in disbelief. “You cannot be gone, where are you going to? Why are you doing this to us?” One of the players cried out.

His team mates who were inconsolable referred to him as Patrick.”Patrick why? This is so difficult to accept,” some of them cried out.

The vehicle which transported Patrick and his team mates fell into the valley leaving other players injured.

Authorities have not commented on the incident.
