Another journalist pays the price for reporting on the Anglophone crisis.
Samuel Wazizi, a pidgin news reporter with Chillen Music and Television, CMTV was arrested by men in uniform days back, Mimi Mefo info has learned.
He has since been detained at the Muea Police Station since he was picked up from his Muea residence in Buea, South West Region. He is currently detained st the Muea Three Police Station.
It remains unclear why the renowned presenter of “Hala Ya Matta” was arrested but it is not unconnected to his reports and comments on the socio-political crisis in the restive North West and South West regions of Cameroon.
Practicing journalism in Cameroon has become a hideous task as media workers are victims of harassment and intimidation from state and non-state actors involved in the crisis which is in its third year.
The Anglophone crisis which began as protest over marginalisation claims voiced by lawyers and teachers soon transformed into an armed conflict when government refused to seek a peaceful solution.
Several journalists who are out of jail are in mental prison as they can barely report happenings on the ground freely.
