Cameroon’s Minister of Defense, Joseph Beti Assomo has issued a statement, announcing the recruitment of thousands of Cameroonians into the national gendarmerie force, also known as gendarmes.

“The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence has announced the results of the competitive exams for recruiting personnel into the Gendarmerie. A total of 300 Student Non-Commissioned Officers (General Service), 40 Student Non-Commissioned Officers (Military Health), and 3,000 Student-Gendarmes have been declared successful,” a section of the statement read.
