Cameroon has been battling with rising Covid-19 positive cases for weeks now.
Despite several measures by the government, the situation doesn’t seem to be improving as fast as expected.
“The Covid-19 pandemic is persisting in our communities,” Public Health Minister, Dr Manaouda Malachie tweeted.
“… The Government,” he added, “has been fulfilling its responsibilities”.
“… It is up to us to fulfill ours as well, by respecting the barrier measures and by consistently wearing our masks. We are the key!” He urged citizens.
The minister’s call comes after other recent measures including the prohibition of ceremonies in the country’s capital city, Yaoundé.
In the same light, Territorial Administration Minister, Atanga Nji Paul has promised to sanction churches preaching against preventive measures to keep the virus at bay.
Culprit pastors and religious leaders, he added, will face the heavy arm of the law.
