Cameroon: Journalist Martinez Zogo kidnapped from his home

Cameroonian journalist, Martinez Zogo, has gone missing in Yaounde, centre region of the country.

Zogo who is popularly known in Yaoundé as host of the program “Embouteillages” on Radio Amplitude Fm was reportedly kidnapped on the evening of Tuesday, January 17, 2023 as he returned home.

It remains unclear who his abductors are.

Martinez was arrested in January 2020 and released three months later, (March 20th 2020) following immense domestic and international pressure.

There has been no official reaction following his dissapearance. Cameroon has been described by the Committee to Protect Journalist (CPJ) as unsafe for independent and critical journalists.

Dozens have been arrested and detained — with some ending up dead at the hands of security officials like Samuel Wazizi.
