Cameroon kicks off investigations on deported immigrants

The governor of the Littoral region, Samuel Dieudonne Ivaha has met with Cameroonians deported from the US today.

Sources say the administrator and other dignitaries received, talked to and counselled them.

Covid-19 tests are expected to be carried out for them before being handed to the Cameroon immigration service.

Investigations are expected to follow as some of the immigrants are believed to have criminal records.

“… Some are uniform officers who left the country. A gendarme has been identified and his case will not be the same like others…” A source tells Mimi Mefo info.

The immigrants were repatriated despite efforts of rights groups, some US politicians and their lawyers.

Among reasons cited for them not to be deported, was the prevailing human rights situation in the country.
