Cameroon’s minister of Transport Jean Ernest Masséna Ngallè Bibéhè, has reacted to the endemic problem of road accidents that have been claiming countless lives over the last few years.

He did this by announcing the launch of a competitive examination to train 240 experts in road safety.

The examination will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, in Yaounde.

The examination is open to all driving license and road safety delegates together with road safety inspectors.

The successful candidates will be trained in a variety of areas, including traffic management, accident investigation, and others. They will also receive training in the use of road safety technologies.

The Minister of Transport said that the goal of the examination is to create a pool of qualified road safety experts who can help to reduce the high number of road accidents in Cameroon.

The competitive examination is an important opportunity for Cameroonians to contribute to the fight against road accidents especially at this moment where Cameroon has recorded a high number of road accidents since the beginning of the year.

The press release asks interested applicants to “contact Regional Delegations of Transport to collect registration forms and obtain requirements relating to the competitive exams,” or access this via https://www.concours.mintransports.cm/

The successful candidates are expected to play a vital role in making Cameroon’s roads safer for everyone.

Critics have already highlighted that while this is a laudable initiative, it needs to be accompanied by investments in the construction of good motorable highways.
