Preparations for the upcoming African Cup of Nations to be hosted by Cameroon are heating up, as the Minister of Sports and Physical Education Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi has launched a nationwide competition to select an anthem and mascot for the tournament.
The official launch of the competition was announced in a communiqué yesterday, April 1, 2021.
The communiqué announcing the launch of the competition stated that it is open to all artists and visual artists of Cameroonian nationality only.
The competitors could equally choose to either do the Anthem/Mascot as individuals or as a group.
Registration forms as well as special regulations for the competition are available at the Tournament Management Office at the Yaoundé Omnisport Stadium, and at Regional and Divisional Delegations of Sports and Physical Education.
In January 2022, Cameroon will be hosting the tournament for only the second time ever, and more than 49 years after it hosted the first tournament.
Minister Mouelle Kombi has vowed to make the competition a memorable one for all participants and to give it the grandeur and splendor that it merits.
The dates through which the tournament is set to run have been decided upon and approved by the Executive Committee of CAF.
Though some of the infrastructures that will be hosting the tournament are still to be completed, the Minister has however reassured that they will be delivered in time for the competition to take place without hitches.
