Cameroon loses first Medical Doctor to COVID 19

With over 300 confirmed Coronavirus Cases, cameroon has lost its first medical personnel to the pandemic.

Dr Michel Tchouamo, founder and director of Clinic Christal in Makepe, Douala V subdivision, succumbed to the coronavirus virus early Friday april 3rd 2020 at the Douala General Hospital.

According to sources at the hospital, Dr TCHOUAMO was brought in while at the 4th stage of the disease, with deteriorating respiratory problems after failed attempts in some private health establishments in Douala.

A close colleague said Dr TCHOUAMO Michel fell sick few days ago; but the situation degenerated fast causing him to need oxygen, given that he had difficulties in breathing.

The same source said efforts to get him admitted on oxygen at the Douala Laquintinine hospital, the Douala Gynéco-obstetric Hospital, the Douala emergency medical and the Douala General Hospital failed, before the intervention of senior Dr Mbatchou who facilitated his admission at the General Hospital.

Few days under reanimation at the emergency ward of the hospital, Dr TCHOUAMO Michel died early on Friday April 2nd 2020.

While some sources say he contracted the virus in the course of attending to suspected coronavirus cases in his clinic in Makepe, his close friends said he was contaminated by a friend who came in from the united states.

Dr Michel Tchouamo was also a visiting medical Doctor with many enterprises in Douala, including Biopharma.
