Ambazonia separatists attacked and killed three military personnel and injured two others early Wednesday morning. Reports suggest the attack took place at a military control post situated between the West Region and Mbonso in the Bui Division of Cameroon’s North West Region. Maloun le Petit hosts the post, located in the Warde Quarter.
According to local sources and a military informant who spoke to MMI, the two injured soldiers were immediately transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The extent of their injuries remains undisclosed.
This marks the second recorded attack on security forces at the same control post. The previous incident claimed the lives of two soldiers who were riding a motorcycle in the area. That attack, like today’s, occurred under similar circumstances and has raised concerns about the vulnerability of security positions in the region.
Military sources indicate that the area is under review for potential reinforcement.
At the time of the report, however, no group has claimed responsibility for the latest assault. Several armed separatist groups, including the Bui Unity Warriors, the Ambazonia Defence Forces (ADF), and the Ambazonia State Army, operate in the Bui Division. The involvement of a specific faction in the attack remains unclear.
The ongoing conflict in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon has led to repeated clashes between government forces and separatist fighters. Both sides are suffering casualties. However, the humanitarian toll and civilian casualities are significantly higher.
