The Roman Catholic Church in Cameroon and the Cameroon Baptist Convention have doubled down on calls for peace in the restive Anglophone regions. During Easter, teachings in churches of both denominations were focused on peace and reconciliation.
The National Treasury has received an estimated sum of one billion FCFA from the Ndop Council in Ngohketunjia division, North West Region. The sum counts as money meant for public investment projects that could not be done, owing to the precarious security situation.
A taxi driver is currently receiving treatment in a hospital in Foumban, West region, after he was shot and injured by a security officer. Sources say he attempted escaping a police checkpoint when the man in uniform pulled his trigger. This was followed by protests in the town, with residents urging authorities to take action against the officer.
The Judicial Police in Douala is inching towards uncovering authors of the kidnap of a doctor, Dissongo Olivia. Five suspects have already been taken into custody, with investigations ongoing, following the April 6 kidnap and demand for a 200 million FCFA ransom. The oldest of the suspects is 25 years old.
A bike rider named Clovis was killed in the mile V neighborhood in Nkwen-Bamenda today. He was shot dead by unidentified armed men who made away with his bike. Medics said the victim had lost enormous blood when he arrived the hospital and all attempts to snatch him from the hands of death were futile.
