Cameroon reality TV show, Biggy237 kicks off

Some 25 youths have finally entered the Biggy237 house and will for the next eight weeks compete for a FCFA 10 million cash prize and a round trip to Dubai.

Biggy237 is a Cameroon Reality TV Show, an initiative led by a group from the Northwest Region called “We Love Ndop”.

The official launch and house entry party on Sunday brought together hundreds of stakeholders in the country’s entertainment industry and had thousands of viewers watching online and on TV.

Fred Keyanti, Biggy237 Director acknowledges that the show is new and would obviously have its own challenges.

“Unlike Big Brother Nigeria and Big Brother Africa where you have auditions, with Big Brother Cameroon there is no audition at all,” he notes.

Contestants were selected after a rigorous application process, followed by pre-competition tasks.

Realising the Biggy237 concept however has not always been a bed of roses. The first season of Biggy 237 was planned to kick off in January 2020, with contestants battling to become the first Biggy237 millionaire.

It eventually has started some six months after, due to a host of challenges including the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking at a press conference a day to the house entry event, the organisers promised to bring the best of entertainment to their audience.

“There are a lot of surprises in the house. Every week is going to be full of content for the public. We have taken the initiative to give you guys the best.”

“There will be tasks given to contestants … the public will have the opportunity to Vote through SMS and on a weekly basis there will be people evicted from the Big Brother House,” Fred Keyanti explains.

Biggy237 may not have the expertise and popularity of similar shows across the continent, but its reward package is encouraging.

Organisers say the winner of the show takes home FCFA 10 million and a trip to Dubai among other prizes.

From the time of the launching of the show, to the present date, reactions have been diverse on social media.

Though not void of hitches, the first edition of biggy237 is in Cameroon to stay, says organisers. Many are looking forward to seeing who will take home the trophy.
