Cameroon: Snake Bites Electrician In Mulang Following Monday’s Nationwide Blackout

An electrician in Mulang, a quarter in Mankon, Bamenda, in Cameroon’s North West Region has for the past hours been battling for his life after sustaining a snake bite while on duty.

Following yesterday’s general power outage across the country, Clinton was contracted by locals to assist them to restore lights in a neighborhood that lacked electricity following frequent power failures.

While working on an electric pole, he was bitten by a snake from a nearby pear tree but didn’t realize it until it was almost too late.

Already losing feelings in his arms, and throwing up, he was administered first aid and rushed to the hospital. As he was being rushed to the hospital, they were intercepted by the Army Rescue, delaying their access to medical care. They would later get to the hospital after pleading and convincing the armed officers.

“I don’t know the miracle they did for me at the hospital that I felt better. I thank God,” Clinton would testify.

Due to lack of finances, however, he was administered medication and discharged from the health facility.

“They told us to return home but monitor the situation closely. And in case of anything, we should return,” he explained further.

Several others also took to social media to decry yesterday’s unannounced blackout. The electricity distribution company, ENEO said it was caused by a major incident on its supply chain.
