Cameroon’s section of the Sangmelima-Ouesso stretch of the road under construction will soon be inaugurated.
The information was revealed by the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Ngannou Djoumessi on December 20, 2021.
The road network will link Cameroon to Congo. The road will also link some major towns in Cameroon like Sangmelima-Bikoula, Bikoula-Djoum, Djoum-Mintom, Mintom-Lelé, and Lelé-Ntam-Mbalam.
The major goal of the road which will link both countries is so as to boost trade between both countries according to Cameroonian authorities.
Officials of the African Development Bank, which backed the project also suggested that the road will help in the development of both countries.
The project is expected to cost a total of 119 Billion FCFA, and it has been financed by several financial partners including BADEA, the IDB, the AfDB, the Saudi Development Fund, the Kuwait Fund, as well as both countries.
