Cameroon vs Algeria Match Replay Verdict Drags On As FIFA Dishes Out Sanctions

By M.K

The World Football governing body FIFA has meted out several sanctions to various African countries following the conclusion of the African World Cup Qualifiers playoffs in March.

However, FIFA has not yet come out clear on the long awaited verdict on whether Cameroon’s game with Algeria in Blida stands a chance of being replayed or not.

However, Algeria and Cameroon have both received monetary sanctions for various violations in the aftermath of their games in Japoma, Cameroon, and in Blida, Algeria.

Algeria has been fined the sum of 3000 Swiss francs for the violent behaviors of its supporters during the return leg of their encounter with Cameroon in Blida.

Many seats at the stadium got damaged by the fans, and some rubbish thrown into the stadium by the fans as well.

Similarly, Cameroon has also received a fine of 10,000 Swiss francs, for the pitch invasion by Cameroonian supporters after the final whistle of the first leg encounter at the Japoma Stadium in Douala.

Nevertheless, the verdict on whether the game would be replayed or not continues hanging in the air.

An official reaction is yet to be issued by FIFA with regards to the appeal by the Algerian Football Federation, the same too with appeals for the replay of the Egypt-Senegal game.
