The teams gathered for the pre-qualifiers, a crucial step on their path to the Olympic Games in Paris. The Federation International Basketball Association selected Nigeria as the proud hosts of this prestigious event.

The tournament was held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, the most populous city and former capital of Nigeria.
