Cameroonian center back, Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui has said but for the influence of football legend , Samuel Eto’o Fils, the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON wouldn’t have taken place at the slated time.

According to the defender, pressure was mounting from European clubs and from the FIFA for the competition to be postponed to a later period. He stated that, it was thanks to people like the President of the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, Eto’o Fils that such pressure was suppressed.

“…without him, the AFCON will never have held. He resisted pressure from FIFA and Europe who never wanted the tournament to happen for fear of releasing their players,” the defender mentioned.

Samuel Eto’o’ has in four months as FECAFOOT president managed to steady the ship of the country’s football. He has also prioritise the interest of players.
The local league which had been on hold for several months has been successfully relaunched. Samuel Eto’o Fils has also brought in more sponsors into the league.
