Breel Embolo, the Cameroonian-born Swiss football international has been fined by a Swiss court for an act of aggression against a man in Switzerland.

The incident reportedly took place way back in 2018, while the now Monaco FC player, played for Schalke 04, at the time.

The 26-year-old allegedly got into a physical confrontation with a Swiss man inside a club and is believed to have punched the individual.

Embolo and his friends have been widely regarded as the aggressors on this day, as they clashed over a lady.

A judge at Basel criminal court gave him a conditional fine of 45 daily rates of 3,000 Swiss francs (£2,626), totaling £118,247, and a probationary period of three years. He plans to appeal the verdict.

His friend, meanwhile, was handed a 10-month conditional prison sentence and ordered to pay £2,628 in compensation for his attack on the victim

The man attacked by Embolo told the court “I never posed any danger. I didn’t use bad language. I was threatened that I would be beaten up and that I would no longer be safe in Basel.”

Embolo admitted to the court that he might have possibly used abusive language on the man, and was fined based on his current salary at AS Monaco.
