Cameroonian condemns poor treatment by officials at Cameroon’s Consulate in Dubai

A Cameroonian citizen based in Dubai has raised concerns over the way the Consulate in Dubai treats its own countrymen in a foreign land.

“Firstly, some of the staff are so rude. And each time you request an explanation on a procedure, they act as if you need to pay before they explain. Any time you call the office, they hardly pick their calls. And sometimes when they pick, they will not want to attend to your complaint or inquiry but will rather ask you to send an email whereas they never reply to those emails,” complains a Cameroonian in Dubai.

On on the issue of the recent biometric passport application, after paying 110,000FCFA online, when you get to the Consulate they still compel you to pay 50 dirhams just to certify your documents, 75 dirhams for the consular card, and 200 dirhams as compulsory DHL fee for your passport to be sent from Cameroon. It is very funny that for all the aforementioned sums collected, no receipt is issued to acknowledge such payments.

Sadly, the new biometric system which started on the 1st of July only commenced in the UAE on the 11th of July. To date, no passport has been issued. Does it mean the 48 hours period for the production of the passports finally changed to weeks or possibly months?
