Cameroonian singer features among top 100 influential US political actors

Micheline Ewang, a Cameroonian singer and song writer based in the United States of America, USA has been recognized among the top 100 most influential political actors in the country.

This recognition came recently on a publication of a top American and Spanish Magazine called WASHINGTON CAMPOL.

The recognition follows the works of the dynamic jazz singer lady

in her advocacy to bring lasting peace in Cameroon rocked by sociopolitical upheavals.

After being recognised, Ewang expressed special gratitude to Penda Ekoka of blessed memory, Maxi Mbe, Dr Vanessa, Alice Kom, Mota Mammadou and Fabrice Lena, remarking that their works have contributed to making her what she is today.

For Micheline Ewang, the distinction which makes her the first ever Cameroonian to feature in the category is another motivation for her to double down on political advocacy and bring about change in her country.

“This recognition means a lot to me, because this brings me to the high table where I can reach more people. This is what I need for my voice to be heard in strategic places,” she stated.

“This,” she added, “is a sign that they have been listening to me for the past 5 years and we are closer to victory and indeed very close to having an inclusive dialogue”.

To Ewang, it also is a sign that Cameroon is close to “… an end to this crisis as well as bad governance.”

Some of Micheline Ewang’s efforts include the advocacy, joining forces with many others to release some political prisoners in Cameroon.

She has also been a key player in the campaign against torture and other human rights abuses in Cameroon allegedly perpetrated by security forces.

The celebrity confessed that she was trained by Sylvie Bello of the Cameroon American Council 7 years ago, and has since used the skills she acquired to make strategic moves.

Today, she is standing with many other human rights activists to fight for political reforms. Thanks to her works, Ewang has broken boundaries as her advocacy works have seen light of day in countries like Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, Guinee Conakry, Congo and more.

Among her numerous recognitions is that by ONGEL, a National Organization for Liberal Ethnic Groups based in Colombia.

Her key ambition remains enabling Cameroon rise up in all domains, seeking good governance and respect of human rights.
