Cameroonian Ndip Emmanuel Ojong has been nomited for the EMY Awards as a Young Changemaker
Dynamic Cameroonian humanitarian Ndip Ojong Emmanuel has been enlisted among seven young Africans nominated for the prestigious EMY Africa Awards under the category of Young Changemaker.
Ojong will be competing against six other vibrant African changemakers from Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Morocco, Uganda, and Ghana.
He was nominated for his selfless and impactful humanitarian outreach programmes through the non-profit organisation Charity Against Hunger (CAH), which he founded in 2017 to fight poverty and bolster food security and clean water access in low-income communities.
Through CAH, Ojong has reached out to over 10,000 people, mostly in the Far North Region of Cameroon, who are afflicted by hunger, coupled with high illiteracy and climate-induced challenges and conflict.
He said he founded the organisation out of a burning desire to abate hunger and suffering in communities. His goal is also to “inspire a movement of unity, resilience, and change” in Cameroon and Africa at large.
Ojong’s approach to humanitarianism is backed by his solid background and dedication to the earth sciences.
He combines technology and hands-on aid to provide sustainable support to marginalised families, orphanages, and conflict-affected areas.
His nomination at this year’s EMY Africa Awards, he said, empowers him and serves as a “beacon of hope” for young Cameroons who are striving to create change.
The EMY Africa Awards, a prestigious annual event, celebrates the achievements of remarkable individuals across various fields who have made significant contributions to the advancement of Africa. This esteemed ceremony recognizes the dynamic and impactful Africans from diverse backgrounds, acknowledging their valuable efforts in fostering the continent’s growth.
This year is the 8th EMY Africa Awards, and it is scheduled for October 14. Public voting for nominees ends on October 6.
