Cameroonian in shortlisted for prestigious Goncourt Prize

Cameroonian female writer, Djalaî Amadou Amal has been shortlisted amongst talented writers for the 2020 Goncourt award for her publication “Les Impatients”.

In this book, Djalai Amadou has condemned violence against women as well as other evil practices on the girl child like forced marriages in the African societies.

Her work has passed the second stage of the competition for the prize and it now stands amongst the top four, from which the winner will emmerge. The official winner for the Goncourt 2020 award will be announced October 27, 2020.

Djalaî’s work is said to be inspired by her personal experiences as a girl child growing in a very difficult environment not too favourable for women.
