The Cameroonian Veterans Football League (CVF) has recently commenced its inaugural season in the United Kingdom. They are offering a structured platform for veteran footballers of Cameroonian descent to showcase their talents. Established in April 2025, the league integrates into the English Football Association (FA) Full-Time system. The CVF league therefore aligns with England’s grassroots football framework.

League Composition and Structure

The CVF comprises six teams representing various UK cities. These are: Camder FC (Derby), All Saints Wolverhampton, Brum Veteran FC (Birmingham), Holy Moses Veterans (Birmingham), Wellingborough Lions Veterans FC, and Bedford Warrior Veteran FC Team A. These teams compete in Division 5, with fixtures scheduled across multiple venues, including Bedford Academy and Gospel Oak Sports Centre.

Season Kickoff and Early Performances

The league’s opening match on April 5, 2025, featured Camder FC securing a 4–2 victory over Wellingborough Lions. Goals were scored by players Jaha, Solo (Kaka), Mokom, and Pope, with Mokom earning the Man of the Match title.

Subsequent matches have seen All Saints Wolverhampton achieve a 6–0 win against Bedford Warrior Veteran FC Team A, and Brum Veteran FC defeating the same team 2–0.

Community Engagement and Cultural Significance

The CVF serves as more than a competitive football league. It also acts as a communal hub for Cameroonian expatriates in the UK. Teams like Camder FC emphaside values such as unity and collective effort, resonating with the Ubuntu philosophy. March days are therefore, more than just the game. They represent opportunities for families and friends of the players to come together, share stories and food, while cheering the teams.

The league’s presence on platforms like Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) facilitates community engagement and updates.

Integration into the FA System

By operating within the FA Full-Time system, the CVF ensures adherence to established football governance standards in England. This integration provides teams with access to official fixtures, results, and league standings, promoting transparency and organisation.

Future Outlook

As the CVF progresses through its inaugural season, it aims to solidify its role within the UK’s grassroots football landscape. The league’s establishment reflects a broader trend of culturally specific football initiatives contributing to the diversity and inclusivity of the sport at the community level.
