Cameroonian Woman Found Dead in Paris Suburb

A Cameroonian woman residing in France was tragically discovered dead in her apartment in Aubervilliers, a suburb near Paris.

On Tuesday, October 2, 2024, the 40-year-old woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, was found strangled in an apartment suspected to be associated with prostitution. Authorities discovered her lifeless body, unclothed, in her apartment on Rue Solférino, close to Porte de Villette. Initial police reports indicated signs of strangulation and significant head trauma.

The victim’s friend made the grim discovery after failing to hear from her throughout the day. Concerned for her safety, she went to check on her and immediately called emergency services upon finding her unresponsive. Earlier that day, a neighbor had reported hearing screams coming from the apartment, alerting the police to what sounded like an attack on a woman. However, according to sources cited by Agence France-Presse (AFP), police arrived but left the scene without locating the victim.

The Bobigny prosecutor’s office confirms that no arrests have occurred at this time, and the criminal brigade of the Paris judicial police has taken on the investigation.

Later that evening, Karine Franclet, the mayor of Aubervilliers, expressed her condolences to the victim’s family on Twitter. “Deeply horrified by the crime that occurred in our city. This incident is profound and raises many questions. I express my support to the whole family and friends of the victim,” she said.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to identify those responsible for this tragic incident.
