Cameroonians Criticise CHAN Loincloth Design By African Football Championship

The organising committee of the African Football Championship (CHAN) has produced what has been termed “CHAN Wrapper”.

The loincloth has the face of lion and inscriptions like “Welcome to Cameroon “, “Bievenu au Cameroun” the CHAN trophy and other patriotic words.

It remains unclear if the loincloth will be sold to Cameroonians or giving for free. What is certain is that workers and volunteers for the competition will be dressed in the fabric.

Cameroon, football commentators say, is the first African country to have produced a loincloth for such a competition. Critics think the innovation is not necessary while stating that it is an idea to embezzle money for the organisation.

Draws of the competition will take place tonight.
