Cameroonians at home and abroad have been taking to social media to mourn the death of Cameroon-born US soldier, Buma Pascal Muga. The sudden demise of Muga, a former educator at Divine Comprehensive College Bali who later enlisted in the US military, has left his family and friends in utter disbelief. Pascal, who reportedly passed away during a military training exercise, resided in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma State, USA, with his family, adding to the shock of his untimely departure.

The grief runs deep among Pascal’s friends and family members. Velda Lesiga, Pascal’s schoolmate, expressed her disbelief, saying, “Buma Muga, I still can’t believe this. How do I type RIP?” She fondly recalled their days at Divine Comprehensive College Bali in Cameroon’s Northwest Region, reminiscing about their shared experiences in prayer and choir activities.

Nel Nel, a close associate of Pascal, lamented the shattering of their plans for the upcoming months. “Pascal, this is not what we discussed. Is this the graduation you invited me to attend next month? What a shame, bro. RIP,” Nel Nel remarked.

Close relatives like Andin Babila and Babila Elvisare are grappling with the shocking reality of Pascal’s demise. Manila Elvis expressed her disbelief, questioning, “What a wicked world! Jesus Christ, brother, what went wrong?”

Andin Babila, in a poignant reflection, wondered aloud why Pascal had to leave, expressing concern for his daughter, Palesa. “Why did you do this to my daughter, a father she never enjoyed, and now that you are gone, who will take care of Palesa, your princess? Ni pas, you broke my daughter’s heart. This was not the plan you had for her,” Andin Babila lamented.

For many, the news of Pascal’s passing seems surreal, as they struggle to accept that a promising soldier recently promoted will forever remain in their memories. Sigala Carlson wrote, “Jesus Christ. This is not true. RIP bro.”

Nahbum Candy expressed profound sorrow at the news. “My heart is shattered by this terrible news. Go well, Nini,” she conveyed.

As Cameroonians mourn, news accounts highlight Buma Pascal Muga’s honourable service in the U.S. military. Before his untimely death, he and his wife were anticipating the arrival of their child, with a vow to return to his family when he left for duty.
