Cameroon’s COVID-19 cases near 1000 with over 300 hospitalised

Twenty one people have died in Cameroon as a result of the coronavirus pandemic as of Thursday 16th April 2020.

Briefing parliamentarians at the national assembly, the minister of public health says 929 coronavirus cases have been recorded with 24 of the patients being health workers.

According to information posted on the official Facebook account of Hon. Ngala Gerald of Donga Mantung centre constituency, 374 patients have been hospitalised. 30 are breathing with the assistance of ventilators. On a positive note however, over 200 cases have been treated so far.

As concerns the age range, minister Manaouda Malachie is quoted to have mentioned that patients falls between three months and 80 years. He explains that an infected mother contaminated her three months old baby.

As concerns calls received at the pandemic control centre, the minister of public health says more than 40.000 calls have been received from the public to find out information about COVID 19.

The health minister for some days now stopped daily declarations of the number of infected persons.
